MTR Crossrail: Lots of specialised recruitment in a very short period of time
The OPC were very privileged and excited to have been selected to undertake the trainee train driver recruitment process for MTR Crossrail. MTR Crossrail are a very forward thinking and innovative organisation who wanted to recruit the very best trainee train drivers within the UK.
To achieve this very high specification the OPC took time to fully understand the requirements of MTR Crossrail and how they wanted to be different to other train organisations within the UK, both within their culture but also in their delivery of a first class recruitment process.
The OPC identified a number of key recruitment stages for candidates to complete, over a number of months, finishing with a manager interview and medical. One key element of this process was the development of an IT system which would allow a large number of candidates to complete a bespoke online questionnaire that would tap into some key competencies of the trainee train driver, but would also be quick and simple to use for the candidate. The OPC were also having to re-design a number of paper/pencil tests and convert them for use on OPC Assessment's online testing system.
Throughout the whole project the OPC were in constant contact with candidates and MTR Crossrail, resolving any issues as and when they arose and constantly pre-planning the next stages of the recruitment process and anticipating potential success rates throughout.
By the end of the first round of recruitment, the OPC had over-achieved by doubling the number of successful candidates to MTR Crossrail within a very short timeframe.
“I am delighted with the results we have obtained by working with the OPC on our trainee driver recruitment. The OPC delivered double the number of candidates that we required for phase 1 and the quality of the candidates were higher than I have seen in a long time.”
