Rail Professional (November 2025) Article: Access to Opportunity - Helping Young People Step into Rail Careers
As part of c2c’s Get into Railways programme, twelve young people, nominated by The Kings Trust, took part in a three-week programme combining workplace experience, coaching and the OPC’s tailored Access Training. The training provided practical experience of psychometric assessments, practice tests and one-to-one feedback to help participants build their confidence and prepare for c2c’s recruitment process.
The results speak for themselves, with four of the twelve participants going on to secure permanent roles with c2c.
One of those successful candidates, said:
''I really enjoyed the chance to complete the two OPC Assessment tests as part of the 'Get into Railways' programme. It gave me the opportunity to explore different career avenues, and the OPC team were really helpful in providing practice papers and tips that helped me feel ready for my assessment day.''
